Traveling with The Doctor Part Thirty-Two

The Doctor ran towards the exit. Lauren followed. "Aren't you going to stop them?"

The Doctor had one hand on the door. "I don't know. I'm sure all I'm going to do is cause trouble and end up causing the deaths of half these people."

Lauren stepped up to The Doctor and slapped her straight across the face. "Now, you listen to me. You are going back there and you are stopping the Sontarans. You are The Doctor. You are the last of your kind. You are the savior of the universe. Now get to work!"

The Doctor blinked twice. "Okay, then. Let's get to it." The two of them hurried back.

The Sontarans were spreading out. The Doctor stepped into the clearing, and the troops focused their weapons on her. The lead officer stepped forward. "You are foolish, woman! You dare stand in our way?"

She smiled. "You have no idea who I am, do you?" To give them a hint, she whipped out her sonic screwdriver.

The officer's eyes widened. "Ah! So we face The Doctor once again! You are surrendering, I hope?"

The Doctor smiled. "Not in the slightest! In fact, I'm just here to tell you that I've already crippled your efforts!"

At that moment, the soldiers aimed their rifles and pulled the triggers.

Nothing happened.

The Doctor smiled. "See? I disabled your weapons! Now, I'm going to run!" With that, she bolted away, grabbing Lauren's wrist and pulling her along. The Sontarans charged after them.

The duo turned a corner and vaulted behind a counter in the food court. Two massive explosions tore through a section of the ceiling as two trooper pods crashed through the ceiling.

The Doctor stared at her sonic. "I'm going to need a bigger screwdriver..."
